Matthew Schildkret is a multi-talented artist whose journey through life has been as vibrant and eclectic as his creations. Born in Long Island, NY, during the dynamic 80s, Matthew’s family eventually settled in the sun-soaked landscapes of South Florida in the early 90s.

With a thirst for knowledge and a passion for both creativity and environmental affairs, Matthew pursued higher education at Indiana University. He emerged with a unique blend of skills, armed with a Business Certificate and a Bachelor of Science in Public Environmental Affairs. His academic pursuits laid the foundation for what would become an incredible odyssey.

Matthew’s early career saw him managing a boutique architecture firm, skillfully blending his love for design and his business acumen. A move to San Francisco allowed him to not only hone his artistic talents but also manage the business affairs of a prominent artist, showcasing his versatility and adaptability.

A transformative journey to India ignited Matthew’s desire to make a meaningful impact on the world. He pursued a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, showcasing his commitment to shaping sustainable environments. This path led him to the esteemed Council on Environmental Quality at the White House under President Obama’s administration in 2008.

Matthew’s drive for change didn’t stop there. Inspired by his experiences, he ventured to Venice, California, where he embraced the waves of the ocean, the solace of painting, and the process of healing. His involvement in founding Occupy Venice during the Occupy Wall Street movement underscored his dedication to social change and community.

It was amidst these experiences that the seed for Late Sunday Afternoon was planted. A globally recognized brand today, it showcases Matthew’s artistic spirit in each design, reflecting his journey’s depth and diversity. From the tranquil streets of Windward Circle to the sun-soaked landscapes of Joshua Tree, Matthew’s artistry has transcended mediums and locales.
